About the Department of Planning & ZoningThe Department of Planning and Zoning offers a variety of services to preserve and enhance the quality of life offered to those who live and work in our community. The department guides the physical development of Lebanon in a manner that promotes sustained growth and protects the historic character of the community.
ResponsibilitiesThe department is responsible for the City’s current land use and development policies, long-range planning strategies, architectural preservation, and regulatory enforcement. It provides technical support to the City Council, the Planning Commission, and the Board of Zoning Appeals.
Land-Use and Planning ActivitiesThe department's land-use and long-range planning activities include managing the orderly development and growth of the community by overseeing the implementation of the Lebanon Comprehensive Plan. The staff administers planning and zoning procedures, including development review, text and map amendments, subdivision plats, variance requests, and architectural review in the historic districts.
