Purpose
The purpose of the Zoning Code is to promote the public health, safety, morals, and general welfare of the
City of Lebanon and its residents. The zoning regulations and districts have been designed to:
  • Facilitate orderly and harmonious development
  • Secure safety from fire, flooding along natural watercourses, and other dangers
  • Provide adequate light and air
  • Prevent the overcrowding of land and avoid undue concentrations of population
  • Facilitate the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewerage, schools, parks, and other public requirements
  • Foster convenient, compatible, and efficient relationships among land uses
  • Protect the historic resources of Lebanon
  • Preserve and protect existing trees and vegetation, floodplains, stream corridors, scenic views, water quality, wildlife habitat, gateways, and corridors, and other areas of scenic and environmental significance from adverse impacts of land development
  • Ensure greater public safety, convenience, and accessibility through the physical design and location of land-use activities
  • Lessen congestion on the streets
  • Preserve the character and quality of residential neighborhoods
  • Enhance the quality of development through superior building and site design
  • Serve as a tool to assist in the implementation of the City of Lebanon Comprehensive Plan
