Police Patrol Function
Patrol is a primary law enforcement function and embraces much more than the act of patrolling. It can range from traditional response to requests for service to alternate strategies for the delivery of police services. The Patrol Function is comprised of:

Responsibilities
Patrol Officers enforce all City and state ordinances to create a safe environment for the residents of the Lebanon community. Responsibilities for patrol forces include:
  • Crime-prevention activities
  • Development of relationships between citizens and the agency
  • Investigation of crimes, offenses, incidents, and conditions, including arresting offenders
  • Maintenance of public order
  • Preventive patrol, including inquiry and inspection activity that is oriented toward the prevention of crimes and accidents, maintenance of public order, and the discovery of hazards and delinquency-causing situations
  • Provisions of emergency services
  • Regulation of certain business or activities as required by law
  • Reporting of information to appropriate organizational components
  • Response to called-for services
  • Traffic direction and control
